Dress Code for Guests
Clubhouse Dress Code
WCC depends on its members and guests to dress in good taste. The Club reserves the right to require any member or guest to change any article of attire that does not comply with the dress code. Members must ensure that their guests are well aware of the Club’s dress code:
- No denim clothing of any style is allowed on any Club property.
- Golf attire as set forth in the Golf Rules is allowed in the Clubhouse and informal dining areas.
- Golf hats and visors are not allowed in the Clubhouse at any time, except by women golfers wearing appropriate golf hats or visors during lunch. No golf hats or visors are allowed in the Clubhouse during dinner.
- Shoes must be worn in the Clubhouse at all times.
- T-shirts and collarless shirts generally are not allowed; however, long-sleeved mock turtlenecks and fashionable women’s tops without collars are allowed.
- Bathing attire is not allowed in any area but the swimming pool grounds. Members and guests may not walk through to the Main Clubhouse in bathing attire.
- Jacket and tie are required for men and boys on Saturday evenings in the Main Dining Room/Tea Room, except for times specifically posted by the Board of Directors.
- Informal dress or proper Golf or Tennis attire is allowed in the Grille Room and Arlington Room for both lunch and dinner.
- Members and their guests are encouraged to change into their golf shoes in the Clubhouse locker rooms and not in the parking lot.
The above dress code does not apply to infants and toddlers aged 3 and younger.
Golf Dress Code
The Club depends on its members and guests to dress in good taste. Please be familiar with the Clubhouse dress code when entering the Clubhouse and other WCC facilities. The Club reserves the right to require any member or guest to change any attire that does not comply with the dress code. The dress code is applicable for all members and guests while playing golf, in the Pro Shop, or on any of the practice facilities. It is the member’s responsibility to inform his or her guests of the Club’s Golf Dress Code:
- No denim clothing of any style is allowed on the Club property.
- Golf hats and visors must be worn with the visor facing forward. Shirts must be tucked in and shoes tied. Men must remove their golf hats when entering the Clubhouse.
- Only spikeless golf shoes are allowed on the golf course or practice facilities; spikeless golf shoes are allowed in the dining rooms and all Clubhouse areas. Footware must be worn in the Clubhouse at all times.
- T-shirts and collarless shirts generally are not allowed; however, long-sleeved mock turtlenecks and fashionable women’s tops without collars are allowed. Women’s golf shirts may be collarless with sleeves or sleeveless with collars. Tank tops are not allowed.
- Bathing attire is not allowed in any area but the swimming pool grounds. Members and guests may not walk through the Main Clubhouse in bathing attire.
- The appropriate length for golf shorts is mid-thigh or longer. Other apparel such as “skorts” (a skirt over short-type apparel) also must comply with the mid-thigh length. Tennis skirts, cargo shorts, warm-up suits, sports shorts, and gym shorts are not appropriate attire on the golf course.
Members and their guests are encouraged to change into their golf shoes in the Clubhouse locker rooms and not in the parking lot.
Racquet Court Dress Code for Men
Tops:
- Shirts are required at all times.
- Tennis Whites are recommended.
- Collared shirts are strongly preferred.
- Mock turtlenecks are allowed.
- Shirts designed and marketed for tennis use without collars are allowed provided they have a crew neck or notch neck.
- T-Shirts, which are permitted during informal practice sessions only, are unacceptable for any club match, event, or tournament.
- Tank-Tops and other gym shirts are inappropriate and strictly prohibited.
Bottoms:
- Tennis Whites are recommended
- Shorts (or warm-up pants) designed and marketed for tennis use are strongly preferred.
- Bathing attire, running shorts, gym shorts, basketball shorts are not considered appropriate attire.
Racquet Court Dress Code for Women
Tops:
- Shirts are required at all times
- Tennis Whites are recommended
- Shirts, Tennis Dresses, and outfits, designed and marketed for tennis use are strongly preferred
- T-Shirts, which are permitted during informal practice sessions only, are unacceptable for any club match, event, or tournament.
- Jog Bras are considered insufficient attire, and must be accompanied by otherwise conforming dress.
Bottoms:
- Tennis Whites are recommended
- Shorts, skirts, and one-piece outfits designed and marketed for tennis use are strongly preferred.
- Bathing attire, running shorts, gym shorts, are not considered appropriate attire.
Racquet Court Dress Code for Men & Women
Head Gear:
- Tennis Whites are suggested
- Hats or visors are recommended for sun protection.
- Headbands and Bandanas worn as headbands are allowed.
- Headdress designed to be worn under helmets (e.g. “do-rags”) is strictly prohibited.
Sweats:
- Warm up attire designed and generally marketed for tennis or golf are recommended.
Shoes:
- Only flat soled sneakers designed and marketed for tennis are approved. Running Shoes, dress shoes, or any other non-tennis shoe worn on the club’s Hartru surface presents a significant safety threat to the player and will likely damage the court surface.
Notes: Children under 10 years of age are permitted to wear bathing attire on the grounds of the tennis facilities, but not on the courts, while accompanied by an adult member. The Tennis Committee will review the approved tennis attire on a yearly basis and update as is appropriate. This will be posted in the tennis pro shop and on the club’s internet web site. The following dress code policies remain fixed and are not superseded by the yearly posting: (1) Bathing attire is not be worn by any participant on any court in any racquet sport, (2) Tennis Whites are recommended and available through the tennis pro shop.
Due to the rigorous nature of racquet sports, attire that is acceptable for participation in tennis or paddle tennis may not be consistent with the appropriate attire definitions for the golf course, and the clubhouse.
Locker Room Dress Code
Members and their guests wishing to use the locker room facilities in the clubhouse while wearing attire that may be deemed inappropriate for the clubhouse are required to use the following entrances and are not to walk through the main clubhouse:
MEN
- Coming from the main parking lot may enter the men’s locker room from the doorway to the right of the main door that leads directly up the stairs to the men’s locker room.
- Coming from the Tennis Courts may use the door directly behind the pool house and proceed up the stairs through the Arlington Room and into the Men’s locker room.
WOMEN
- May use the door underneath the Arlington Room and proceed across the corridor, to the right into the women’s locker room.
BOTH MEN & WOMEN:

May use the pool house locker rooms to change in/out of tennis attire when the facility is open and available.
